High School Confirmation Program at St. Paul

The St. Paul Parish Confirmation Program welcomes all high school teenagers who desire to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church by receiving the final Sacrament of Initiation, which is Confirmation! Typically, preparation begins in Grade 9, however, any high school teenager, no matter the grade, who would like to receive this sacrament and complete his/her initiation into the Catholic Church, is most welcome to participate in this program.

This year, classes were held virtually via Zoom on a weekly basis for approximately 75 minutes. For the 2021-2022 year, we hope to incorporate more "in person" classes in addition to the virtual classes.  That will be determined by the number of students who register for the program. The curriculum for these classes consists of videos and discussions, which are led by adult catechists. Additional mandatory classes with guest speakers/special events occur a few times during the year. In 2021-2022, we hope to be able to offer a retreat and service opportunities once again, which were suspended this past year due to Covid. As part of the preparation for this sacrament, all Confirmation candidates are expected to attend a weekend Mass of their choice, and to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least twice a year. Seaside Life Teen Confirmation Program at Resurrection

Our Mission: As ambassadors for Christ, our mission is to reflect the love of Christ to all who enter our doors, expressing excitement and enthusiasm for the opportunity to share our church home and to welcome all visitors in such a way that they would be transformed from strangers into friends.

Seaside Life Teen is Hingham’s very own youth ministry program that serves to fulfill program expectations for Resurrection Confirmation students. High school students attend our Life Teen Mass on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. As Catholics, Mass is the most important piece of our faith, and ultimately weekly Mass is the best way to prepare our teens for Confirmation. The goal of having our students at the 5:30 p.m. Mass is to create a positive, inviting church atmosphere for our teens. Following Mass, we host Life Nights which take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Resurrection Church.

To build a vibrant faith community for our teens we ask that students seeking Confirmation attend weekly mass, Life Nights, Holy Hours, a yearly retreat, and service events. Life Nights are the primary time each week where social activities, current issues, or catechesis will be given in an engaging and relevant way. They are also times of fellowship, catechesis and community. Beyond Life Nights, this dynamic program will also be participating in outings, mission trips and much more! All of our events are open to everyone in grades 9-12! Any questions regarding the Seaside Life Teen program should be directed to our Confirmation Director,  Jo-Ann Sullivan at jsullivan@hinghamcatholic.org.
