2022-2023 Faith Formation Information

Faith Formation is in session for 2022-23. Please be reminded that our faith formation format is family-centered and parents are expected to actively participate in their child's or children's faith development.

Goals for Faith Formation: That each family:

  • Learns about and appreciates the Catholic Church & her teachings.
  • Believes in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
  • Learns to pray and prays on a regular basis.
  • Feels they are part of a community, not just a class.
  • Grows in their personal relationship with Jesus.

Expectations:

  1. Attend Faith Formation Sessions: 
    1. K-6, there are 12 gatherings planned for 2022-23. At least one parent/guardian/grandparent is expected to attend with their child(ren). These sessions are guided by the God’s Plan in Scripture (GPS) curriculum from Ascension Press and families have a choice of attending at one of the following times: 
      1. Monday: 4-5 pm or 5:30-6:30 pm at Resurrection or 4:30-5:30 pm at St Paul
      2. Wednesday: 4-5 pm or 5:30-6:30 pm at Resurrection or 4:30-5:30 pm at St Paul
      3. Sunday: 8-9 am at Resurrection
      4. Homeschool
    2. Grade 7, there are 18 gatherings planned 2022-23
      1. Thursday: 2:20-3:30 pm at Resurrection
      2. Homeschool
    3. First Communion Candidates, In addition to Family Faith Formation, candidates preparing to receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion must attend prep classes on the First Thursday of each month, Oct - May at either 4-5 pm or 5:30-6:30 pm. At least one parent must accompany your child(ren) and attend adult catechesis with Fr. Matt.
  2. Attend Weekly Sunday Mass: The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Faith and it is our obligation as Catholics to worship God at Mass on Sunday. Children learn what they live and Sunday Mass devotion is integral to your child’s faith formation. To be part of our faith formation program it is expected that families attend Sunday Mass.
