End Hunger Meal Packing Service Event

The Collaborative Parishes of Resurrection & St Paul and Saint Paul School are partnering with End Hunger New England for a special event to provide packaged meals for those in direct need of food support on April 1, 2023 from 10am-3pm at the Saint Paul School gymnasium.

We are looking for donations and volunteers to help us. For each $100 raised we will be able to provide 285 meals with one hour of packing. You can donate to our event through our collaborative here: End Hunger- April 1st Event
(https://giving.parishsoft.com/App/Form/32ab9b90-534e-4967-91d0-fb696c252e4e) or make a check payable to St. Paul’s Parish at 147 North St, Hingham, MA 02043.

Volunteer slots to pack meals is available through a signup genius here https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090544ADAA2E5-endhunger and the opportunity to volunteer will increase as more donations come in. For every $5,250 in donations, we can schedule another 1-hour shift with 10 volunteers who can package 2,160 meals in that time frame This will allow us to pack meals for three hours from 10AM to 3PM on April 1st.  Quite simply, the more donations that we receive, the more volunteers we can accommodate to pack meals, and the more hungry people we can feed.

Why donate? Food insecurity rates have increased dramatically as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation, especially for people of color and families with children. While rural areas have higher rates of food insecurity, the fact is that every community in the United States have families who face hunger. Indeed, Here in Massachusetts 1 in 14 people and 1 in 9 children face hunger daily. Moreover, many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and visit their local food banks for support.

Where are the money and meals going. Donations will have a direct impact on the people living around us. Sixty percent of the meals packed on April 1st will go to food pantries in and around the South Shore, as well as Eastern Massachusetts. The remaining meals will go to food banks in other New England states.
