Special Collections
The Archdiocese of Boston has designated several weeks throughout the year as special collections in order to "more effectively carry out our mission as Catholics" and "to support important initiatives throughout our Archdiocese." Over the past few years, individual collections have been combined into a single special collection under a common mission category, thereby reducing the number of special collections. Following are the special collections to be taken up in 2023.
January 2023
Church in Latin America - January 22, 2023
This collection supports the Church in Latin America (CLA). The CLA provides support for pastoral projects in financially poorer dioceses in Latin America and the Caribbean. CLA funds catechetical and lay leadership programs, youth ministry, evangelization programs, and formation programs for religious, priests, and deacons. CLA is making it possible for the Catholic faithful in the Western hemisphere to help each other. *Saint Paul School - Catholic Schools Week - January 29, 2023
This weekend's special collection directly supports the efforts of our Collaborative Catholic School. Saint Paul School provides a Catholic education for preschool to Grade 8 to children from over 15 local towns. Learning and growth take place inside and outside the classroom as the administration is committed to a well-rounded education offering students the opportunities to explore, evolve and excel in academics, athletics and the arts while developing skills they will need to excel in the 21st Century. Catholic Charities (Ash Wednesday) - February 22, 2023
This Ash Wednesday, a special collection will be taken up for Catholic Charities of Boston. Catholic Charities works to serve nearly 200,000 families and individuals annually throughout the Archdiocese and help put them on a path to self-sustainability. The services provide food and utility assitance, quality child care, academicalliy enriching programming for at-risk youth, and adult education to put clients on a path to self-sustainability. Refugees are welcome and immigrants are provided with high quality, low cost legal service, temporary housing and transitional housing for individuals and families. Support of the Church Around the World - February 26, 2023
This collection will support the Church in those underdeveloped areas of the world. Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the Church in Africa and in Central and Eastern Europe and three important national Catholic missions: the Military Archdiocese, Home Missions, and the Black and Indian Missions.

The Outreach Program will return to our Collaborative on April 1st at Saint Paul School for a meal packing event. This collection will raise funds for the food supplies to pack on that day. It's a wonderful service opportunity for the whole family that provides food for those in need both locally and abroad. Stay tuned for more details on this upcoming event.

*St. Vincent dePaul (Palm Sunday) - April 2, 2023
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person services to the needy and suffering. Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ. This one time a year collection supports the local parish chapters and supports those in need right here in Hingham.
Holy Land Shrines (Good Friday) - April 7, 2023
Good Friday’s collection for the Holy Land is, in the words of Paul VI, “not only for the Holy Places but above all for those pastoral, charitable, educational, and social works which the Church supports in the Holy Land for the welfare of their Christian brethren and of the local communities.
Easter Collection: Clergy Health & Retirement Trust - April 9, 2023

*NPH - Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos - April 30, 2023
"Our little brothers and sisters" - NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Together, we help children overcome poverty and become productive, caring leaders in their own communities. NPH is supporting nearly 7,000 children, both inside and outside our homes, ensuring they have a safe and nurturing place to live, an education, clothing, healthcare, and a strong family support system. Our collaborative has had an ongoing relationship with NPH for many years as many of our parishioner sponsor an NPH child. Seminarians (Pentecost) - May 28, 2023
This collection supports the formation and training of seminarians in the Archdiocese of Boston for service, we pray, as future priests. Promoting the Gospel - June 18, 2023
This collection will be shared by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) and the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). These two organizations communicate the Gospel by promoting works of justice, education and the dignity of human life. Your generous donations will give those in poverty the support they need to make lasting changes and will support our local communications needs, such as Catholic TV programming. This collection will support the Holy Father’s “Peter’s Pence” collection that provides funds for emergency and disaster relief. This collection will also provide support to The Catholic University of America that educates priests and lay people for ministry, and for the Inner City Parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston. World Mission Sunday - October 22, 2023
This collection supports Catholic World Missions. By Baptism, all Catholics are called to participate in the mission of the Church and share their faith as missionaries. World Mission Sunday gathers support for the pastoral and evangelization programs and needs of more than 1,150 mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote regions of Latin America. The funds gathered on World Mission Sunday are distributed in the pope’s name by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith—a Pontifical Mission Society.
